    Default Bimini top question

Just wondering how many of you have Bimini tops or had them on your flat? Iv been thinking about getting one since we just use the boat as a ski boat but I’ve been hesitant because I’m not sure how well they are on a flat bottom and I don’t like the idea of drilling holes in the boat so any suggestions or experience with them is appreciated, also who and where is the best place to get one ? Thanks

FWIW I run A bimini on all my cruisers For the shade for my wife kids and grand kids. As far as gears go, the 18* gear is the normal "go to gear" for most cruisers or flats for all around performance. I.E. pulling skiers and cruising. My 20' Eliminator sport cruiser has 18's in it now but am thinking of stepping up to a 22-25 gear but I have a transmission so I can stretch it out a-bit. For a flat I would leave the gears alone if putting and pulling skiers is your'e main focus for the boat.

as far as the bimini goes, i'd REALLY try to get creative and do some hidden mounts under the deck. It would be a shame to have a bunch of hardware visible on a flat

I'd find someone local to make it, thats really the only way to get it so it looks RIGHT. It looks like you're in TX, so you might have to do some research to see who does good work out there. A proper shop should be able to custom make it to fit your needs, but it wont be cheap, but it'll look right.

You'll want stainless poles and hardware.

Bimini tops are not legal on 18 ft flatbottoms in SoCal. The Bimini top police will wright you a ticket. If not I will wright you a ticket.

I just met a guy at the lake with a blown hondo t deck that had a Bimini mounted on a rail system drilled into the top of the hull. It was ugly as all be. But it was functional while just cruising. Not my cup of tea.
