post a pic of the jet boat. i have been running the rapids on the snake and salmon rivers since 1964. also just a personal note PLEASE WEAR A VERY GOOD PFD (LIFE JACKET) AT ALL TIMES WHEN THE BOAT IS ON THE WATER. if you would like to visit with me i would be more than happy to help you out. i live in spokane.
I got a stock thunderjet alexis 20 ft 350 310 hp W/ 309SD American Turbine. Is this configuration good enough to take on the rapid Given moderate river flows?
There's nothing on the Snake that I think would give that boat any problems. The biggest concern on the Snake is usually the shallow areas (sand bars) depending on where you run the river. Payette is kind of technical with lots of rocks but very doable also. Now the Salmon would be a different story.
i know thunder jet boats i use to live in lewiston id. i know the person who started thunder jet boats. he sold the company to someone else. thunder jet is built to look pretty. if i had one the only place i would take one is a lake or slack water. i have seen a number of thunder jets that have hit rocks and it is not a pretty sight. there is a number of welded jet boat manufactures in the lewiston valley and they call thunder jet by the name of thunder junk. i know that u paid good money's for the boat. if you want to take a thunder jet up the snake river i would take someone who has had many years of running the river and 1000's of hours of experiance running the river in all kinds of water levels. if you would like i would be willing to show you. in the last 20 yrs plus i have seen so many people up on the snake that have now idea how to read the water. they just point and go. in lower water there are hidden rocks that could ruin a person day. if you would like to learn the river i would be willing to show you sometime.
