Oregon Custom Marine is Just north of Hillsboro ( 5 min) and you will
be in shock regarding places to go up here.... Thats why its so GREEN.. we have
lots of water. Google the Willamette or Columbia River systems... lakes a plenty too! I am a SoCal transplant myself ( when I was a teen) and having real seasons takes some getting used to if you are a born and raised Californian! But I have to say, it is beautiful here. Country in the city...

Lots of sandy beach camping on the Columbia, campgrounds under an hour from town. I could go on .. an on... there will be plenty of input for your post.

Stop by our show room if you make it this way. we would be happy to show you around.
The rivers are great, lots of room to run,and great places to eat and drink.
Dont forget about the Portland Poker Run in July.

Just moved from Hillsboro to Phoenix. I lived in Hillsboro for >20 years and lived in the greater Portland area since 1959. There are more places for camping with in a couple of hours than you can visit in 5 years. Boating all along the Willamette and Columbia rivers(>90% of all navigable Oregon shoreline is owned by the state and open to the public). I usually went to a lake in washington for boating/camping because that is where we went when i was in high school.

The summers in the Northwest can not be beat. It is possible to snow ski in the morning, waterski around lunch and surf (wind or ocean) before the sun goes down.

Also, house prices aren't bad compared to soCal. My Hillsboro house is for sale if you are interested. 2052 sq ft with a creek and fruit bearing trees for ~$270K.

Great area!! Have lived in the Portland/Vancouver area all my life. Like Cruzer said, it is one of the best places to live if you like the outdoors.
Housing values also are continuing to rise as the rest of the country is dropping!!!

Just a few crowded river pictures from the weekend before the 4th of July.
Aprox. 1 hour out of Portland.

Are those pictures of the John Day River in the gorge? I didnt know anyone ran that river in a cool boat. I fish up there and camp on the corp park just upriver for fathers day every year. Wouldnt mind dragging the boat down that way the next time you guys get together there.

We will be there on the July 4th weekend for sure. We usually go up there
3-4 other time during the summer as well. We've been running up there for years. Usually get some very fast boats up there. There are a couple of guys from The Dalles that can run some #'s as well.
    I'll keep you posted.

I moved from socal to Boring about five years ago. Then I came back 6 months later. If you don't like rain you are in trouble.
I loved it up there. So green it hurts your eyes. I bought a house on 5 acres and loved it. My house was a custom 4,000sf with a 3,000sf pole barn...500k. It took me a 6 pack and a tractor to mow my lawn though
The night life in Portland kicks ass. The restrants/food is incredible.Strip clubs are everywhere too
