Default New to the forums and looking to get back into a boat..

When I got out of HS I worked at a boat dealer that sold Carreras and got to drive every model. My favorite was the 22.5' Viper. 20 years later I am married, have a stable job, two young sons and am looking for a boat for family outings. I am looking for a SO Cal custom boat, all gel coat, BBC with Bravo drive in good mechanical shape and good to excellent gel coat / hull and deck condition. I can take care of interior / minor mechanical and electrical issues.

I have been looking for a pristene Viper for a good price and it has been like looking for a needle in a haystack. I am open to other SOCAL manufactures, Eliminator, Ultra, Sleekcraft, Warlock, Spectra, Cole etc. I can travel to pick it up, but the price has to be right.
Found a 1999 25' Eliminator Eagle in Arizona for 22.5K OBO and would like to hear from anyone that has owned or spent any time in one.

I look forward to being a active member on the board and meeting some of you guys when I finally pick up a boat.

I talked to the owner of this Eliminator tonight, if it checks out it is definitely in the ball park.

    Thoughts?

Welcome IROC. A few weeks ago a guy in Henderson NV was selling a pretty clean Viper for 8500. Some sort of distressed sale. I've always wanted one of those too. Good luck, check Henderson Craigslist.

Eliminator has a few on consignment you may want to review.

I called on the Henderson Viper on a Tuesday night. The guys wife answered and said she didnt know enough about the boat to discuss it and that her husband wouldnt be back in town until the following Wednesday. Just for S / G's I called again 2 days later, the husband answered and said the boat was gone. I was a little frustrated. The topper was that he sold it for 7K.

The owner of the Eliminator and I reached a tentative agreement tonight and I may be picking it up in a couple of weeks. The owner said he has had the boat for a couple of years, has the trailer title in hand and the boat paperwork. I was assuming that the boat should have a title also but he said no, it would have some sort of documentation but not a title. After talking to the guy I checked out adds online and found the same boat listed for sale on a repo lot and the contact person is not the same guy I have been talking to. The photo's the guy sent me are the same photo's on the repo lot site. I'm not afraid to buy a repo but this just seems fishy. If I drive to Mesa from Seattle and this isnt a square deal things wont go well for this guy.
This is the repo lot ad for the Eliminator. Current Inventory/Pre-Owned Inventory from Diversified Remarketing

Hmm! Sounds cool if it works out. Check up on the Vin's. Usually one on the transom and one in the bow area and also one in the engine bay starboard side. Unfortunately you may need to remove a few panels to verify. Call eliminator to see for sure. Talk to Bob or Fear. Good luck

No title for boats in AZ......no issue there.

I'd run from the deal if in fact its the same boat......too much fishy biz there for me.

    Good luck!

The ad for the lot says they are repo/consignment lot. It is possible that the boat is on consignment there and that you spoke with the actual owner. You could always call the consignement lot and ask them if the boat is owned by the guy you spoke with. Don't talk price for the boat with them or it could screw up your deal with the owner if he is the owner. If the guy you have a deal with is not the owner, ask the lot if they know him and ask them why is this guy working a deal on the boat then. Good luck with your deal.

I spoke with the administrater for the business that has it listed and she took the time to explain who owns the boat and why it is listed there. I feel much more comfortable about buying this now and look forward to picking it up soon.

Spoke with the owner again tonight, deal is done contingent on visual inspection. When we get with home with her I will post up pics.

Is there a website accessible to the public that I can run the engine and drive seriel numbers through to see if there are any ownership issues?

Until then, check out my other hobby. Sometimes I feel like I am waisting my time, but you dont see them this clean or run as well as these do very often.
