ARGHHHH!! Need to vent about Holiday RV & Boat in Bullhead
Where do I begin........ About 2 months ago my husband and I were out in Bullhead for the weekend. Staying at our family s home, and taking out one of our boats. We have a Hardin Caribbean jet, nice little scooter. It was a rough day on the water, lost one of our swim steps and the guide on the trailer came off. We were headed home to So Cal and decided that instead of towing the boat back to a reputable shop that we had experience with, we d leave it with Holiday RV & Boat Repair in Bullhead AZ as they had repaired several of our family s boats and trailers in the past. So we took the boat over and worked with Mike, the guy behind the counter. "Of course we can get you new swim steps, of course we can detail the boat and trailer, no problem we will be happy to put the guide back on No worries, leave it with us "
Cut to 6 weeks later, my husband calls, tells good ol Mike that we will be back in town over the 4th, and asks if the boat is ready. Of course it s ready, looks incredible...."of course the guide is on and the boat is all clean and detailed....of course you can pick it up anytime" Good ol Mike....
So, June 30th we are driving in from So Cal, we called about 2 hours out and asked if the boat can be brought around for pickup.. "yes, it s ready, we will bring it around...no, Good Ol Mike isn t here today but we ll take good care of you"
Pull up in front, no boat. Go inside to check on it...4th of July week, 1 guy in repair, 1 girl at the front.....said they d been slammed and they would go get the boat. Now, we understand that things happen, people get busy, no problem. We need to put a drop hitch on the truck anyway so we can wait.
Out comes the boat..............it was still under the cover but I knew we had trouble. The once spotless cover now has black tread marks all over it, and it s filthy. We pulled back the cover to reveal an absolutely filthy, marred, and dented mess. Yes, the swim steps were on but the trailer guide was thrown inside the boat, not installed and the entire boat was so dirty you couldn t tell if it had been buffed and detailed or left out in a dust storm.
They were very apologetic... .so sorry, Mike s not here and neither is Pat the general manager but we will fix it for you . I even spoke to the owner, a very nice older woman, who assured us they would take care of everything.
So, we went to get a drop hitch for the truck while they corrected the problems . I must say, their head mechanic, Vince, came out and personally wiped down the boat as best he could and installed the trailer guide...he was the only positive experience we had there.
Pat, the GM did speak to my husband over the phone while we were there and said that he knew the lettering looked great!!!??? Ok, so what about the rest of the boat? Though my husband wanted to refuse to pay, I encouraged him to pay the bill and we would work it out with Good Ol Mike on Monday.
When we got the boat back to the house and washed it we were able to see that, yes they buffed it.....to the point that there were burns on the deck and a large dent up by the base of the windshield. Once again, I persuaded my husband to remain calm, Good Ol Mike would work it out.
Monday comes, we call Good Ol Mike and were told that he stood behind his employees, refused (actually refused) to do anything to make it right.... and besides...he should have charged us more anyway????...I guess that means we should have expected substandard work. Well, we have photos of the boat before and after.....all we can do is see what legal avenues we have. Sorry this was so long......but I can t advise strongly enough DO NOT TAKE ANYTHING TO THESE PEOPLE!! I know they have lost all of our family s business!!
I now understand why there are no reviews good or bad since 2011....no one is crazy enough to take their boat there.
That is terrible and I am sorry that you had that experience. I would like to say " always do it yourself and trust nobody " but I cant. However I can tell you I only let people I TRUST work on my boats. Thanks for the heads up Im sure the word will get out. Happy boating. Oh yeah, what the hell is the dent from anyways?
" NO MOTOR NO BOATER "
" I'd rather be riding in my boat thinking about God, than in church thinking about my boat ".
