i agree. the avi is awesome. especially if you are bringin a boat. boating in laughlin is tough because of all the rental jet skis. they are everywhere up there. the boat ride from the avi to pirate bar or havasu is a fun ride.

Not a fancy Hotel, just basic. Nice launch ramp and small boat cove. Have a Movie Theater and some decent restaurants. Buffet if that is what you are into. Fair price and have stayed there many times.

Cool Both are good, depends on what you want

We go to both Laughlin and AVI alot. AVI is definately more convenient for boating with the lagoon right there, but if you like to beach at a lake (Mohave), Laughlin is closer and cheaper. The river is usually too low in the early AM, but is great for H2O skiing later AM, whereas Mohave is typically too choppy to ski on, but fine for tubing. We have split between the two (a few days at each) on some trips which gets the best of both. Unfortunately, the season is pretty much over with school and all. Have a great time where ever you go (I'm jealous)!

    Default more avi ?s

I too am new to the laughlin boating areas. I fell in love with the area after the regadas and now finally got another boat. I was wondering if you can beach in the avi lagoons and hang out around there, and if so is the area you can beach walking distance to the resort?

if you decide on the Avi, Saturdays before 5pm, the prime rib buffet is 2-for-1 price. sweet deal if you need to get a grub on, and the prime rib is surprisingly good. not just crappy gray roast beef.

agreed Avi's a great place to stage for a boat drive down to needles, topock, pirate cove, sand bar, have-a-screw, etc... And for beaching in quiet cove's? Mohave. it's choppy in the middle, but no matter the wind, you can always find a calm cove. i don't use mohave for long distance boating, i use it for cove'ing. for traveling by boat, the river baby!
