I was there Fri.(11-7-08) and the water was down pretty low.Parked the truck and trailer on the ramp! Can't go as deep in the cove as normal, but it was still a good time.Had the place to ourselves, except for the fisherman.

Planning to go for the first time on 11/28 & 29. How are rangers there - do they work with you or are the only there to hassle boaters? Not talking about being stupid, but maybe wakeboarding and going a bit faster than 35 mph.

My experience there has not been good. I think they are there to hassle you.
They use a radar gun and hide out trying to nail you for anything they can over 35 mph. The ticket costs $165.00 but does not go on your record. It is just a fine (a way for them to get money to justify their existence).

It is convient and close for the valley, but be careful there. I hate to give them any of my money, hate to support them at all.

    Just my $ .02

Thats weak about the $165.00 just for more money, they already charge 21 bucks to get in...which is fine but easy on the "tryin' to get more money out of us"
What about quagga mussel drama. Will they ban you from castaic if you been at the river lately?

I have never had a problem out there, even running a little faster then 35, (sorry once we didn't have a flag and they did play good cop bad cop, ended up loaning us a flag for the day) now if you want to hit 50+ they will mess with you. You will be able to beach it in the cove even if the water is down.

Also, I think the west ramp is closed even on weekends now, you have to use the main ramp.

Remember no alcohol is allowed, so keeps your eyes open if you do bring any.

What about the whole quagga mussel thing? My friend went there and they sent him home after packing up the boat and family, and said "no lake for you! one month, NEXT!" (the lake nazi)

Not sure about the mussle thing, I don't know if they have an exact time they want your boat out of the water from another place. How long has it been since your boat was in the water someplace else? I will stop by the Park Police building tomorrow and ask if you want. Since I'm pretty sure getting a hold of anyone by phone could be tough.
