Default Home invasion in Gilbert

I thought that I lived in a pretty good place at Power Ranch. I didn't notice anything when I left for work this morning. But this was 6 houses down from me.

Gilbert home invasion ends in deadly crash

An armed home invasion escalated into a vehicle chase and a deadly rollover Tuesday morning, Gilbert police said.
The chase began when Gilbert authorities responded to calls of a home invasion near Mariposa and Stampede drives about 2 a.m.

Four suspects armed with assault rifles and wearing body armor forced their way into a couples home and beat a male victim during the robbery at the residence, said Sgt. Mark Marino, spokesman for Gilbert police.

The victim's injuries were treated on scene.
The four armed suspects and a fifth suspect, who did not enter the home, have not been identified. The suspects fled the scene in two vehicles and were spotted by responding officers who began a pursuit. Police managed to stop one vehicle in a high risk traffic stop near Higley and Germann roads, Marino said.
The second vehicle continued speeding along surface streets and the freeway until officers employed a PIT maneuver that caused the vehicle to roll near Williams Field and Gilbert roads, Marino said.
A PIT maneuver is a method by which one car forces another vehicle sideways during a pursuit causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle and stop.
Several occupants inside the vehicle were ejected and one suspect was pronounced dead at the scene, Marino said.
Gilbert officials did not release details on the condition of the other occupants ejected from the vehicle.
Authorities recovered all weapons used in the home invasion and no officers were injured during the pursuit.
Williams Field Road will be closed in both directions, between Gilbert and Lindsay roads, during the rush hour period, according to Gilbert authorities.

Holy sh!t!!! Glad that you are ok and I'm glad that one of those POS was pronounced DOS, it's just a shame that he other 3 didn't meet the same fate!

Unfortunately I think incidents like this are going to become more frequent with the current economic situation. And now the government are trying to take away your right to defend yourself!!! WTF?

As I said, I'm glad you're OK and hopefully lightning won't strike in the same place twice

I would look into a video survelliance system and proper weapon systems along with the proper training to defend your family. Sucks to hear that in the neighborhood.

I couldn't agree more! If these guys are wearing Body Armor then looks like you need to think of getting .308 rather than the usual "go to" .223! Proper training with a "proper" firearms training company is essential though. It needs to be second nature!

BTW, please let me know if you're interested in a training course, I have a couple of great contacts.

Dam Rick. That was too close. Do you know they family who were victimized?

Amazes me that someone would answer the door at 2am. If I get a knock at the door at that hour you bet your ass you got a 7.62 aimed at the door. Being a victim isn't in my plan.

Who were these guys? were they skin heads? Mexicans? Goths??? To bad they survived the crash. POS cowards.

My defense weapon of choice for home is my pump 12GA shotgun. First, the sound of a pump loading a shell is a universal "Get Out Quick" alert for most perps and if they are convinced that their body armor is sufficient, a shotgun blast can convince them that they can't withstand the initial blow - plus the shot has a way of finding chinks in the armor, so to speak by the third or fourth blast.

What just blows me away is that This a very nice neighborhood. With what I understand these people were looking for something (lots of drugs) Why would anyone have on body amour(sp) How much does that cost. As far as the suggestion that I need to be able to defend my family HA HA I have a varity of weapons for the purpose of hunting and defending my family. I am a native Arizonan and we take our freedom very personal. With the full body armor I would have wasted no more than 3 shots after that your dead... Send them my way no more this was way to close to home.

We do live in a great neighborhood. Sucks when crap like this happens anywhere. I know over on my side we have had quite a few forclosures and crap happening to the homes by the tenants that have moved in to them lately.

Sorry for the home owners, but good to hear 1 POS is dead. I hope the rest get a VERY long sentence.
