Default Lyman Lake in eastern Arizona....

Curious if anyone has ever been to Lyman lake? It is in east central Arizona north of Springerville and south of Saint Johns, Az.
It is the only lake in the area without horsepower restrictions.
It has a beautiful camp ground. about 3 dozen full RV hook ups plus about another 3 dozen tent camp spaces. You can also camp on the beach. there are 3 shower buildings too.
It has diesel and gas, a country store, a reservable group area,

It has 4 cabins, 4 yurts too!

This lake is small but, ample for performance boating and no one seems to know about it.
I have never seen more than 3 or 4 boats on the water at one time and have yet to see a real performance boat there.
Of course, it does not have the party and crowds like the river but, is a very nice place to check out.
I bought land up there in the area and plan to eventually move there. In the mean time, I am an onsite volunteer and work in the office 2 days a week. They gave me an Rv space and boating/lake privelages.
I hope to have my Hondo flatbottom there within a week or 2.

If anyone is interested in going there or has questions, let me know.

It is about an hour east of Show Low. Elevation is 6,000'so it is much cooler there.

I'm from st. johns and spent many hours on lyman lake. it's small but not bad at all, nice camp sites and some good beach's. Havent been their in about a year but last year at this time it was around 90% full. Are you going to be on the lake for the fourth of July?

Yes, I'll be there. I'll be 'working' as a park volunteer over the 4th and will probably be either in the office or greeting people at the entrance. Say hello if you are going to be there.
I am hoping to tow my Hondo flatbottom with blown HEMI upthere tommorrow but, still have a lot of work to do to it before it goes in the water.

I really like Lyman. Other hot boaters should be aware of it.

I would be interested in taking a flatty up there, any noise restrictions and can you make a quarter mile pass?

lyman today had plenty of people and quite a few boaters but, still lots and lots of room on the water. There might have been 2 dozen boats there with less than half at any one time. I saw only 2 performance boats, both 18' jets. Both had Bassett style headers.

there is plenty of room for a quarter mile pass and shut down area.

I'll get back to work on my boats next week and try to get one up there later this month.

    Lyman is worth checking out.

I've been to Lyman with my boat years ago. It is a very nice little lake with great camping. A little small if crowded. But the water is deffinately colder in the summer than the Salt River lakes.
