    Default Arizona Newbie

Hello everyone, I've been lurking for a couple months and thought it was about time I register and make a couple posts.

We sold our last boat about 5 years ago, took some time to buy and remodel a house and get things in order. Now that all that is done it's time to start enjoying the water again! I think my wife is more excited than I am.

Anyways, I bought a ski boat (Larson), with a buddy and his wife (two kids). This fit the best for what we wanted, I figured I'd find something a 'lil bigger in the off season, maybe a 28'er or so.

I found a theft recovery out of Phoenix that was too good of a deal to pass on even tho it wasn't exactly what I was looking for (a lil older and shorter). It's a 1995 Sleek Craft 26' mid cabin open bow, single 502/ Bravo 1.

I was hoping someone on the board might know the previous owner and I could get some intel on this thing. The insurance company had put the boat and trailer paper work in their name so I don't even have a name to go on.

Here's a couple shots of her.

Well thanks for looking and if you happen to see us, stop, say hi and have a cold one with us.

Oh yea, we spend all our lake time at Apache. I know fish creek road sucks but it's worth it.

Welcome Nutzz. We like Apache too. Hubby (88 commander) has pics of "the other woman" on his profile. Look forward to see you at the lake.

Thanks R98 and HW, I'll try and keep Apache on the "down low". I'm going to try and have this boat ready for next spring, until then we'll be using the Larson.

Went to AZ Game and Fish today to register the boat and had a funny experience that I thought I'd share. This means you can laugh with me, not at me.

Anyways, I'm getting ready to go down to Game and Fish to register the boat and the seadoo's (bought a pair a few weeks ago), I look at the back of the Title/Registration papers and see that the guy I bought the seadoo's from didn't sign them . I call him on the phone and he said that he was out of town working and to just sign his name, no big deal he said. (they don't need to be notarized, crazy huh?)

So I then grab the paper work that I have on the new boat, I have my receipt, bill of sale, power of attorney, and a copy of the cashiers check I paid with. I get there and hand over all my paperwork, the young lady starts working away. She does the first seadoo then the second, she gets to the boat and tells me there's no signature on it. I tell her that they stamped it and on the stamp it says "POA" (power of attorney) then I point to it, I said this is what they gave me. She then tells me there's nothing I can do without a signature. Well at that point I pay for the seadoo paperwork and leave with my tail between my legs, I'll call the insurance company in Phoenix and after going thru a ton of people I get the person that can help. They proceed to tell me that it's titled to the Insurance company and can't be signed it needs a "POA", I go up the ladder and finally get to the next person "in charge". I go thru the whole story and he tells me the same thing and then says "well just sign any name to it".

Are you serious? Is this what it's come down to? He then tells me what's the difference? They don't know who signature it is. Oh well, I guess I'll try it.

I just find it crazy that you can have a boat worth $100K (or more) and you don't need any proof (bill of sale, notarized, drivers lic, etc..) that you own it but the pos trailer needs to have a notarized title and be inspected. Am I the only one who thinks that's odd?

    Oh well, I'm rambling on.

    See ya on the water.

Thats Arizona! Have three boats titled in Cali that AZ does not title, apparently, so I just keep the Signed Cali titles and bills of sale in a safe deposit box in case I ever decide to sell one.

Yea, it the weirdest system I've dealt with. Wish me luck, I'm headed down there again tomorrow to see if I can get it done.

It just went through the same deal with my trailer. Crazy but we don't pay a luxury tax on our boats here. Arizona Love it or leave it

    I love It!

I figure your in Gold Canyon / Queen Creek area since you hit Apache from the Fish creek side

Welcome to AZ. Help us out and don't change AZ. Its just fine the way it is. Your guna love the wheeling here. The sumers are awesome too

Yea, no worries. We'll see how it goes in a few hours.

We're actually in Tucson, it's just so much shorter (faster) to do the fish creek side than to go all the way around to Globe then Roosevelt. We may have to check out sag but we have the RV stored at Apache. Going to start looking for a house boat for next season, hopefully.

My avatar is from Florence Junction, there's some great wheeling out in that area. You guys go wheelin' also?

Quick side note, I was reading a thread that someone has a great hook-up on upholstery, I can't find the thread again. If you don't mind hooking up the new guy it would be really appreciated. I want to do both boats, seadoo's and I have a friend that needs a few seats done also.

Thanks in advance for any info.
