Default Do you know this boat?

    Hello,

Lucky Strike suggested I try coming to this site for some specific information, so thanks to AJ in advance.

I'm looking for specific information on this boat. I'm told it sank in Bass Lake in California at some point. It was owned by a Donald Sharp of Fresno, CA, bought at Pacific Marine in Madera, CA, and serviced by Semper Marine in Madera, CA. I won an auction for this boat and then was told an hour later that it had sunk in Bass Lake. Looking for specific information in order to set the record straight. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks!
    John

Is this what it looks like after it sank?

Yes, this is a current picture. The boat apparently sank sometime in the last ten years.

Have you just called Mark Semper at Semper Marine?

Mark won't disclose information on the boat due to confidentiality reasons, so I'm stepping around him. He dropped hints and even told me his advice was to buy it at that price. He said one engine is worth that, but I'd have to disagree in this market. No disrespect toward Mark, but the nightmare potential for that boat is too high for me, and I don't have any concrete information on how thorough the boat was gone through after sinking, although I suspect Mark went through the engines. It's simply not worth a $36550 risk to me.

"confidentiality reasons"????? Duck, trust your instincts. If it was that good a deal, how did it end up out there?

Madera County Sheriff's Office could provide you with more info----they control what's on the water at Bass Lake and would know about sinkings and such

Yep, that's why I bailed on it. Crankyape wanted to penalize me for winning the auction but not following through on buying it. I told them the boat was misrepresented. They told me I needed to prove that.

I believe another person is stepping in line to buy (who is familiar with the boat and its history), so I should be off the hook. But I'm not assuming anything at this point. Best to keep working all the angles.

Thanks for the info. I'll contact them.

WOW! That thing look amazing for being under water for a long period of time. For 36k I would say no way. You should be able to get that thing for 10k from the insurance at most. Especially in this economy.

There is no expectation of privacy between a boat mechanic and anyone else. This stinks and I would run fast. " privacy issue" Oh please!!!
