    Default Hello everyone

I just registered today and this is my first post. I just bought my first boat last month. It's a 1978 Rogers 19' with a BBC and Berkeley jet. I've been looking at boats off and on for several years now and I finally gathered the courage to make a purchase. The boat is in really good condition but has some mechanical issues. The gel and interior are original and in excellent conditon. The motor was rebuilt just a few years ago and sounds really strong. It had a Demon carburetor which I replaced with a Holley 750 Also, the alternator bracket was cracked and the bolt was broken in the block. That's already fixed. The jet was damaged by it's previous owner, and as soon as funds permit I will be having repaired by Jim at Cyclone Marine. The hydraulic place diverter pump leaks and needs some attention. I already replaced the siezed Morse steering cable with a TeleFlex unit. I had to completely rebuild the trailer as it was in pretty poor condition. As soon as the weather clears up, I'll paint the trailer. The previous owner installed a pretty decent sound system but unfortunately had the stereo installed where the Rogers emblem once was. I am currently looking for an emblem but I am having trouble finding one. There are a few things I'd like to do to the boat in the very near future. The shifter handle is way low (next to my left leg) I'm planing on moving it up higher. Also, some of the gauges are not working and I'm planing on replacing them with more modern gauges for a little more of a custom look. I'm sure that as time goes on, I'll make changes per my taste. My plan is to keep the boat mostly original with a few modern twists. I don't want her to lose that classic 70's jet boat look.

When I die I want to go nice and peaceful in my sleep like Grandpa did, not screaming like the other passengers in His car.
