Sorry.. I'm looking at three different boats. Two have a lot of stress cracks and one just has one or two cracks but needs a lot more work. I just trying to see what it's going to cost me to redo a boat with a new gel coat or is that just crazy to do ? Also what would be a going rate for interior work on a boat, 500.00 to 900.00 ?

You get what you pay for. When it comes to boats, this verse is true! depending on what your Interior question is. Just 1 bucket seat? All the seating? Carpet and side panels? Dash work added gages? It could cost 1200 to start. Are the seat sub frames OK or need Rebuilding? Is the floor needing some work? They don't call them B.O.A.T.s for giggles.

Are these boats customs or bayliner type? If there customs it might be worth the money to regel. If not your thowing money in a hole. A Deep, Dark Hole.

the boats are 18 to 21', 74 to 77 one open bow. haha no bayliners... all of them need the carpet and seats replaced. I feel the B.O.A.T. vers. but just dont want kill myself with a money pit.

I have seen a lot of very NICE boats on here and im sure you guys have put TONS of money in them to look the way they do. I just need a boat that I can put the wife in and pull the kids around, but still have the jet boat swagger.

This "redo" ran about 2500, no carpet. Thats like asking what a steak cost. Trust me, unless you REALLY know what you're doing/looking at, you cant come out ahead buying someone elses junk. The cheaper a boat is, the more it costs.

Well there you go... 2500 bux without carpet!

Dom he's in San Fernando CA.

Gavacho, there are many good boats out there. Just have to rumage through the BS to find it. Some may have a solid Motor and Jet, Others Interior is tits. What ever you do >>>Take the boat for a test drive with the owner<<<. Let them do the driving at 1st Just in case something breaks its all on them. Have them hammer it. They may not want to. Id walk from that deal. If the boat stalls (Not The Engine but yea that too) when they hit the throttle the pump may need work. After the run check the oil. Don't just run it on the trailer.

    Your Welcome. And Good Luck.

Yeah, born and raised in the SFV..lol...

Cave, thanks for the heads up. I would have never of thought to ask to take the boat out on the water for a test run. Well ill keep you guys posted on what happens.

One more question. Will 5000.00 get me into a ok or good jet boat ?

Go to Craigslist and check out the for sales section in SO Cal or AZ. There are a lot to choose from there. 5 k is a good starting point for a jetboat.

For a family boat its a tad on the low side. Many cruisers are starting at 5k but they're out there. Just got to be patient. If you see one you like in your travels, it doesn't hurt to ask if its for sale.

when you say A boat for the family, Im thinking Cuiser type 20' - 21' like an Eliminator, Nordic or Sleek Craft type. If your looking at the Ultras or more modern cruisers then the cost goes way up.
