If ya can pull it to peak hp go for it , itll damn sure move some water

Dare to be different, if it turns out great you can claim you planned it that way.

Engine peak is 6200, I might be able to spin a AA 56/5700 ..

Will a jet keep pullin throughout the run with a bigger impeller ??

Hell Tintman was running a AAA and that boat was quick .. I usually had to run him down when we raced ..

Where's WT ?? He's boat is real quick also When I ran him he just left on me several boat lengths .. I think I can MPH him but he's is alot quicker .. I'm starting to figure out MPH aint worth a shit .. Gotta get there quick !!!!! My boat will run 100 but it seems like it dont come on until 600' or so out

There's a thread in the jet boat section referring to 1/4 mile racing setups versus river /lake racing setups. In my deal it a completely different plan.

Theres no replacement for displacement. Look at the other jetboats in the class. They`ve all got bigger motors, nos or both than my 496. The only way i can barely get by is because its a 265 lb. tunnel hull with a B turning 6550.

Understand all that but my question is what would that same boat do with a AA in it ?

I think if you only drop 200-300rpm that it will be quicker on the clocks. You start from a dead stop and you will be running more mph when you cross the starting lights.
Thats just my 02. I don't race and haven't been around jets as long as you guys. I'm sure people on this site have tried it.

He don't have a clue what his peak power is and never has dynod a engine .. He's just been jet boatin for 20 years and has always had a quick ass boat .. Most of them wouldn't turn 5400 - 5600 rpms run in the mid 90s and damn near live forever .. I don't think Tint was turnin his 498 5000 rpms and that was a runnin SOB

His thinkin is don't matter what engine combo you have got, put a big impeller in the SOB and run the hell out of it

Might try puttin a AA in the winger when it gets done and she how she runs

Mike I had my A detailed (by b1, in my winger) and lost 500 rpm, the boat leaves a little harder but I lost mph, about 4mph. Is it quicker from point a to b, don't know it has never been to the track. If I were going to change the one in my race boat I think I would go the other way, smaller. the reason why is my motor in race boat made peek hp @ 6900 and I only turn the A+ that's in there now 6300rpms, my theory is I could put a smaller impeller in and soften the hit a little and run more mph but who knows till you try it. I think your winger would only be quicker in the first couple hundred feet with an AA but that's just my opinion.

It will jump out of the gate like a mofo then lay down 500 or so ft out. The engine would be out of it's range & would just maintain that speed. There are a lot of factors intake psi nozzle size and hp boat weight ect. For an example we turnd a aa detailed mpd intake, loader, bowl trough a 3.125 noz 70 psi intake psi 7800 @ 25psi boost to run the 5.86 at the cove last year. The boat is a heavy lay up lake boat. If I put all our crap in your boat and the same keel that's under ours it would be wayyy faster.

A few years ago at OKCwhen I first got my data system I decided to try a B Impellor in my race boat. usually run a C 6400. Usually breaks out a little. 9.90-9.95. Ran the C first to get a baseline. .100 light and ran 10.02. Put in the B. Had a .05 red light and ran 10.25 . Turned 6200 Swamped back and forthe 3 times that day with the same basic results. Bottom line was the B was quicker at first but the C was quicker in the 1/4 mile. If I was lake racing I would defenently want the B
