my buddy has one that runs pretty good. 18' near 100 mph. i may be wrong but its basically a rogers from what i understand

 

I have a 1983 18' Advantage open bow, BBF, Berk JE, diverter, HTP shoe and rideplate. Rogers design hull, 75 mph with mild power. Likes to walk a tad at speed, but no big deal. Good manners, no surprises...... you'll like it.

 

the bottom of the boat has been worked over and spryed with speed coat. it had a 548bbc in it, he blew the pump and gave up on the boat. said it ran 120. so a rogers hull design is good?

I wouldn't hold my breath for 120.... other hulls better suited to that speed.

 

That means it does 90... There is a 25% reduction to bullshit when it comes to boats numbers.

Which Advantage hull are you inquiring about? In general Advantage boats are well designed & built and typically perform in the top of their class. I have an 83, 18' bubble deck. It's a copy of a Rogers 18' Bonneville. I really like the boat, handles chop very well, it's quick, turns well and runs well into the mid 90's on 670hp. This model of hull is very popular with the circle racing guys as well as river/lake hot rodders. Having "bottom work" done is a slippery slope. If done correctly it can be a blessing, if not it can be a lot of work to correct and potentially dangerous. As always, check hull condition and bottom work history thouroghlly. the boat is very very simillar to a rogers. probally because hary christansen worked for roger wieman back in the day. i wouldnt be suprised if it was rogers old mold. very nice boats wish there were a few more advantages running in comp jet these days

i got the speed bug so thats why im thinking of buying the advantage as project. my tahiti looks nice but when you let off the gas a wot its like the brakes got slamed on and it stops!!!!
