STRAIGHT undiluted muriatic acid. Be careful! First hose the whole driveway area, then pour it on at full arm stretch with your face away. Do not breathe the fumes. It will start cooking that shit off right away. I did this once even on a nice exposed aggregate driveway. When its done cookin' (about 5-10 min) hose it off thoroughly. Hose the residue off the path that it drains and even down the street gutter. If you're afraid to do this, then DON'T!! LOL Jocko

Worse part is, muratic acid has ZERO effect on oil. Put some oil in muratic acid and see what it does. All the muratic acid does is eat the concrete away that was strained. The stain is gone alright. So is the concrete is was staining.

Gasoline besides being the near pefect bomb, also has its own oil in it. may come as a surprise to some, but it is refined crude oil.

Methanol, acetone, mek, and laquer thinner are all better choices than gasoline. But you can still end up in the burn ward at the hospital if not carefull. Plus you may have a tree hugger for a neighbor.
The very best thing I have ever used was Amway driveway cleaner. Put that was back when there were no tree huggers, and detergent really was detergent.

Next best is the purple shit they sell at Home Depot as a commercial degreaser. Similar to the old Castrol Super Purple. be carefull. it can eat concrete too.

And .... when you are all done cleaning it the best you can, sprinkle pure cement on it while it is still wet and brush it white again.

You need a detergent with trisodium phosphate in it. Tide used to, EPA fixed that. Maybe TSP still has it. I don't know about ca. but decent detergent is still available at industrial supply stores around here...and a steam cleaner.
The tri-phos chemically breaks the oil down and the steam/pressure floats it away. If you want some exercise
hang about 5 lbs of weight on a push broom and scrub stains with soap/water.
Need to be careful with pressure washer, at point blank range it takes about 1600 psi to etch the surface.

Pour and restore is too easy to work but it really does. DO NOT have any metal around the fumes of muriatic if you go that way. The fumes are heavier than air and lay along the ground and will trash any metal that comes in contact with them i.e. your car at the curb with alloy wheels. Pour and restore seems a little pricey but is stupid simple to use. Have a beer while you watch it work instead of working at the other options and needing a cold one when you're done sweating.

Oil stain

Paint thinner / mineral spirits works reall good. Pour it on the stain and scrub with a stiff broom, then hose it off until the mineral spirits are gone. You will still see the stain while it is still wet but as it dries it will disapear. Some bad stains will need two scrubs. I would not use the acid, it lighens the stain but it also etches the concrete around it so the stain is still just as bad.

After you use laquer thinner, gas or whatever, connect the garden hose to your hot water heater. Then use Dawn dishwashing detergent and elbow grease. If its clean but still stained, mix some water, portland cement and about 10% white lime together. Broom that mixture onto the damp concrete. The lime will accelerate the bleaching process and make it whiter.

Kitty litter put it over the stain get a pair of work boats and smash it in real good.It absorbs whatever is there the finer it gets the better it works.

When i fixed my t case on my truck i knocked over a quart of ATF made a mess i cleaned i wiped it up then used the kitty litter the next day to clean up.Also use it to clean oil in garage after i spill oil or a project that gets messy

I have used gas, thinner, tide, etc in my years none has been cheaper and easier than shit absorbant!

I have tried most of the suggestions listed at some time in the past ,BUT if I still lived in the Peoples Republic of Kalifornia I would be careful pouring liquid from a jug with a skull and crossbones on it or soaking up oil with anything as it is now a hazardous waste. Unfortunately its not the world it once was and your neighbors may jump at the idea of you paying hefty fines for harming their environment.
