Carl..I said it was later in the Stevens evolution. The 18 was the only 3 piece mold that Mac Stevens used. It was also the last plug he built and produced. That's why there is no cap line Spuds...The deck sits on top. It very well could be a 70. Don't pay no mind to the year of the motor vs the year of the boat...It has nothing to probably do with each other...rcl

Also looks like a Vance trailer under it...

WOW...I would have bet the farm on the 18...I need to go to the doctor and get my photo memory card rebooted. Well Spuds...I think you have a 17 footer..at least by the photo's I blew up. I am sorry to all the v-drive card carriers..I think my Dad was done purchasing Stevens in about 69 and I was 15 I think..some things are stuck real good and other times I need a swift shoe in the bean bag...

This is one of the Stevens my Dad put together...406 Ford..

Wood deck Stevens in the foreground with a small block and six twos on it. This is the boat I ski raced behind in the late sixties...I know, I know...theres a Wickens with a 425 nailhead in it..

These people were so much fun that owned that boat..Al and Mary Lou Clewett..man could she drink beer. When my Dad would build a boat back then...you also became close friends with the people...then you would end up boating together all the time..what a great time to grow up..three brothers and flatbottoms and great friends...it's the same today..when you really think about it..

I remember one time my Dad and Mom had some close friends that went boating all the time with us..Larry Glenn was his name and his wife was pretty smoking hot...they had an early Sanger Dragster flatbottom with a wood deck...they took off one day and were gone forever..my Dad said we better go looking for em...we found the boat beached and nobody to be seen...then we look up the hill and 'ol Larry was doing the "wild thing" with his wife...my Dad just started laughing and I was like...."Daaaaammmmnnnn"...I thought about that lucky bastard for years...I was probably 14 or 15..

the white boat in the background was Larry's Sanger Dragster..

I call it "stringer transfer"...I have no idea what causes it..but these old boats seem to do it. Spudz and I were talking about it the other day and think maybe it could be trailer related..but I don't think so..I think it's old age..

But thanks for noticing our thorough work here at the world headquarters of Straightline Graphics...

Well Spuds lost his Mom in Phoenix and had to go take care of things..sorry to hear. She had been suffering as of late..so she's in a better place..

but the business of the Stevens keeps plugging forward..

First vinylester coating and block off..this ol gal is gonna be kinda cool..we're flaking the boat and I'm really excited about that..
